Military personnel of the air defense units (ADD) of the Central Military District (TsVO) destroyed enemy unmanned aerial vehicles during an exercise in the Altai Territory.

During the exercise, on-duty crews discovered small-sized highly maneuverable aircraft of a mock enemy heading towards the deployment sites of military facilities in the region.

Crews of the Buk-M3 anti-aircraft missile systems (SAM) marched to the designated area and worked out the detection, tracking and conditional destruction of targets simulating the means of air attack of a conditional enemy.

In addition, the imaginary enemy planned to defeat anti-aircraft missile systems during the march. To counteract, the military personnel used the Verba MANPADS and destroyed targets at altitudes from 500 to 1000 meters.

In total, more than 50 air targets were detected and intercepted during the exercise.

More than 500 servicemen and over 40 units of military equipment took part in the exercise.

The Buk-M3 air defense system makes it possible to intercept almost all cruise missiles and aerodynamic targets. There are 12 missiles on the launcher, and six on the self-propelled launcher. Distinctive features of the air defense system in comparison with previous versions are an increase in the carrying capacity of the chassis for a larger number of missiles, an improved control system and protection of the crew from undermining.
