A large transport interchange is currently under construction on the site, which will connect the South Rokada with the South-East Chord.
The first section of the Southern Rokada from Kaspiyskaya Street to 1st Kotlyakovsky Lane is 40 percent ready. In parallel with the construction of a major transport interchange, the reconstruction of high-voltage cable lines is being completed. This was announced by the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for urban planning policy and construction Andrey Bochkarev.
“In the south of the capital, active construction is underway on the section of the Southern Rokada from Kaspiyskaya Street to 1st Kotlyakovsky Lane. To date, the overall construction readiness of the first section of the Southern Rokada is 40 percent,” Andrey Bochkarev said.
According to him, a large transport interchange is currently under construction at the site, which will connect the South Rokada with the South-East Chord. The project plans to build seven overpasses with a total length of more than two kilometers. 10 out of 14 overpass supports have already been erected along the main course of Kantemirovskaya Street from the intersection with Proletarsky Prospekt, 12 out of 15 overpass supports have been installed at the exit from Kantemirovskaya Street to the South-East chord.
As the General Director of Mosinzhproekt JSC (general contractor and general designer of a number of sections of the Southern Rokada and South-Eastern Chord) Yuri Kravtsov noted, the reconstruction of high-voltage cable lines with a total length of more than 120 kilometers was almost completely completed at the site.
“The dismantling of overhead line supports and their foundations is nearing completion. As part of the reconstruction of the overhead lines, three shunt reactors were also installed,” he specified.
The Southern Rocade is part of the new chordal system of Moscow highways along with the South-Eastern, North-Eastern and North-Western chords. The route will run from the junction of Rublevsky highway with the Moscow Ring Road to Verkhnie Polya street in Kapotnya.
The construction of chord highways is a key project for the development of the road and transport framework of the capital. The chords will directly connect the peripheral areas of the city, which will reduce the overall load on the road network of the central regions, the Moscow Ring Road and the Third Transport Ring. Now traffic has already been launched on 65 percent of the sections of the chord highway system.
