For them, webinars on computer literacy will be held, a contest of posts about volunteering, and the Silver Routes project will continue.

“Silver” volunteers are volunteers over 55 years old. Today, such volunteering has become one of the most dynamically developing areas of volunteering. For older Muscovites, this is an opportunity to diversify their leisure time, find like-minded people and gain new knowledge. In 2021, over 800 “silver” volunteers took part in more than 100 city events.

Last year, on the basis of the Mosvolonter resource center, a regional center for “silver” volunteers “Young at Soul” was opened. Now older volunteers can support the city’s actions and take part not only in traditional events, but also in educational sessions designed specifically for them.

This year, a special program has also been prepared for them. The Computer Lounge will reopen in February. The participants of these meetings will learn how to use Internet services and office programs, search for the necessary information, and also gain other useful skills in working with a computer.

Volunteers over 55 will have the opportunity to take part in the Silver Spring post contest. On their pages in social networks, they will be able to share their impressions of volunteer actions, write about the life of the volunteer community in Moscow, talk about what helps them in their work, and much more. The authors of the best posts will receive useful gifts.

Discussion platforms are also planned for volunteers throughout the year. Volunteers will be able to meet and discuss problems and issues of promoting and popularizing volunteering.

The Silver Routes project will continue its work. Volunteers in it act as guides, telling about the sights of the capital and interesting places. Last year, several experimental excursions took place in the “silver for silver” format: older volunteers conducted amateur excursions for their peers. Now it is planned that volunteers will be able to hold such meetings, for example, for students.

“Representatives of the “silver” volunteering are unique people who have rich life experience, value orientations and an incredible supply of internal energy, which they are ready to share with others. I am glad that every year we offer the older generation of volunteers more and more interesting events and opportunities for self-development,” noted

Ekaterina Dragunova, chairman Committee of Public Relations and Youth Policy of the City of Moscow.

To join the regional center “Young at Soul”, you need to register on site resource center “Mosvolonter”. You can also learn more about the program by phone: +7 499 722-69-98.
