Commander of the Space Forces – Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Aerospace Forces, Colonel-General Alexander Golovko congratulated the personnel of the Military Space Academy (VKA) named after A.F. Mozhaisky on the 310th anniversary of the founding of the university.

Solemn events dedicated to the 310th anniversary of the Academy were held at the House of Officers of the Western Military District in St. Petersburg.

In his speech, Colonel-General Alexander Golovko noted the important role of the Aerospace Forces in the development of domestic cosmonautics and wished new success in training highly qualified specialists for the Space Forces of the Aerospace Forces.

According to the commander, for merits in strengthening the country’s defense capability and significant achievements in the training of highly qualified military personnel in 2021, the academy was awarded the Order of Zhukov. The banner of the academy with a new sash was demonstrated to the guests of the solemn event.

After a congratulatory speech, the Commander of the Space Forces presented state and departmental awards to the best representatives of the university.

During the solemn meeting, the crew of the International Space Station also addressed warm words of congratulations to the command and personnel of the Academy.

As part of the celebrations, a festive concert was held for the guests of the holiday. Under the instrumental accompaniment of the orchestra, the creative teams of the academy, laureate of international competitions Vladimir Piterish, as well as the Song and Dance Ensemble of the Western Military District performed.


VKA named after A.F. Mozhaisky traces its history back to the Engineering School, established by decree of Peter the Great on January 16, 1712. For more than three centuries, the renowned educational institution has been considered the leading polytechnic university of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, a scientific and methodological center with a unique system for training military personnel.
