In a day and a half, up to 14 centimeters of snow fell.

Utilities eliminate the consequences of heavy snowfall around the clock. This was announced by the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Housing and Communal Services and Improvement Petr Biryukov.

“According to weather forecasts, heavy snowfall, which began on Sunday, January 16, will end today in the afternoon. The growth of freshly fallen snow in one and a half days in some places amounted to 14 centimeters. City services are working in an enhanced mode,” he said.

More than 90,000 workers and about 12,000 pieces of equipment are involved in snow removal. First of all, key transport routes are being cleaned to ensure the smooth operation of public transport, ambulance, operational and emergency services.

On January 18, at 11:00, city services began sweeping the roadway, sidewalks and courtyards, followed by de-icing. Snow is transported to snow melting stations.

Drivers are asked to strictly observe the speed limit and distance, as well as to treat the work of city services with understanding.
