The championship of the Southern Military District (SMD) in kettlebell lifting took place in Novocherkassk.

More than 170 servicemen from 4 armies, 15 separate units, the Black Sea Fleet and the Caspian Flotilla took part in the competition. Among the participants are 2 masters of sports of international class, 11 masters and 12 candidates for master of sports in kettlebell lifting. In addition to men, representatives of the fair sex were also present on the platforms.

Men competed for prizes in the Kettlebell Snatch discipline alternately with the left and right hand in five weight categories (up to 65 kg, up to 75 kg, up to 85 kg, up to 95 kg, over 95 kg) and three age groups (up to 30 years, 30 to 40 years old, over 40 years old). Women competed in two weight categories (up to 65 kg, over 65 kg) and two age groups (under 30 and over 30).

The first place in the team standings was taken by the team of the 4th Army of the Air Force and Air Defense, the second place was taken by the team of the 8th Combined Arms Army, the third – by the team of the 49th Combined Arms Army.

“We won because we support each other. I would not have been able to win without my team,” says Alena Aleksandrova, a senior radiotelegrapher from Sevastopol, who won 1st place in the 1st age group in the category over 65 kg with the result of lifting a kettlebell weighing 24 kg 138 times, thereby deserving 1 sports category .

The master of sports of international class Sergey Balabanov from the village of Persianovsky, Rostov Region (result: kettlebell 32 – 257 times) and Honored Master of Sports of Russia Movsar Suleymanov from Vladikavkaz (result: kettlebell 32 – 244 times) confirmed their high titles. The winners were awarded cups and certificates from district command.

Based on the results of the competition, the team of the Southern Military District will be formed to participate in the championship of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.
