MIL OSI Translation. Region: Russian Federation –

On January 19, Orthodox believers will celebrate the feast of the Baptism of the Lord. The safety of Epiphany bathing, starting from the stage of preparation for them, is under the control of the Russian Emergencies Ministry.

After the consecration of the fonts, the faithful of the Kostroma region began to perform ablutions. Prior to this, the safety of the places of Epiphany bathing was once again carefully checked by specialists: a control measurement of ice was carried out, the surrounding area was examined, tents were set up for changing clothes and heating, etc.

Almost 300 specialists will monitor the safety of people during ablutions: employees of the Russian Emergencies Ministry, rescuers of the regional Rescue Service and the Civil Protection Center, the police, the National Guard and doctors. Bathing will take place taking into account the current epidemiological situation.

As a rule, the bulk of swimmers come at night, from 23.00 January 18 to 03.00 January 19. EMERCOM of Russia planned the work of points of heating and changing clothes. Information about the location of the “fonts” is in the public domain, including on the official websites of municipalities.

In the Rostov region, despite the lack of ice cover on water bodies, about 70 places for swimming have already been equipped. All official places for ritual ablution are equipped with convenient approaches and gangways. Rescuers check the bottom of each reservoir, evaluate the general level of preparation of objects.

In the Komi Republic, both employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and rescuers from SPAS-Komi will ensure the safety of residents and guests of the region on the feast of the Epiphany. In total, more than 400 people will participate in ensuring security, of which 70 employees will be from the Ministry of Emergency Situations.

On the eve of the holiday, specialists of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia in the Komi Republic appeal to residents and guests of the region to take ritual bathing only in places specially equipped for this, where specialized units are on duty. This is necessary to prevent accidents.

In total, more than 13,000 rescuers from the Russian Emergencies Ministry will be on duty throughout the country, 2,450 pieces of equipment will be on duty at more than 3,000 bathing places.
