New barriers were installed on the Moscow Ring Road, Entuziastov Highway, Profsoyuznaya and other streets.

About 100,000 square meters of noise screens were replaced in the capital in 2021, Deputy Mayor for Housing and Communal Services and Improvement said Petr Biryukov.

“The program to replace noise barriers continues, as part of it last year, 100,000 square meters of structures with a total length of approximately 22 kilometers were replaced,” he said. “New screens have been installed on sections of the Moscow Ring Road, Entuziastov Highway, Profsoyuznaya Street and Mnevniki Street, Alexandra Monakhova and Alexander Pechersky Streets in the TiNAO.”

When replacing, they take into account a single urban style: only gray panels and the same sizes are used for screens. “This makes it possible to simplify the repair of structures and reduce the cost of their maintenance,” explained Petr Biryukov. “The new panels meet all the requirements of GOST and allow for maximum sound absorption.”

According to the deputy mayor, noise barriers are an important element of modern urban infrastructure. They help to minimize road noise near crowded places, public transport stops, parks, squares and residential areas.

“The height of the fence depends on the level of sound exposure, taking into account such parameters as the distance to residential buildings, terrain, traffic congestion. For example, the height of the structure in sections along the Moscow Ring Road is about eight meters,” said Petr Biryukov.

He added that city services are constantly monitoring the condition of noise screens. They are regularly washed and promptly repaired in case of damage (for example, after an accident).
