This was made possible thanks to active preventive work.

Last year, there were no cases of illegal felling of coniferous trees in specially protected natural areas in the capital. This was announced by the Deputy Mayor of Moscow in the Government of Moscow for Housing and Communal Services and Improvement Petr Biryukov.

“On the eve of the New Year, we held the annual preventive action “Spruce”, aimed at curbing illegal logging of conifers. Control was strengthened in natural areas, their increased patrolling was organized with the help of inspectors of the Mospriroda, who, together with the police, conducted more than 120 raids,” he said.

The deputy mayor also stressed that the measures were taken in a complex. Thus, for the prevention of cutting down fir trees on the eve of the New Year holidays, specialists annually carry out large-scale information work.

“At meetings with Muscovites, including in an online format, they explain how dangerous the felling of conifers is for natural areas, what consequences it can lead to, and remind them of the criminal liability that threatens violators,” Petr Biryukov added.

In addition, until February 20, a campaign for the collection and processing of New Year trees is held in the city. “Christmas circle”. Its main goal is to help competently dispose of coniferous trees.
