Orthodox military personnel, members of their families and civilian personnel of the military base of the Southern Military District (SMD) in Armenia took part in the baptismal festivities.

In the Church of the Holy Martyr Empress Alexandra on the territory of the military camp “Big Fortress”, the assistant commander for work with the faithful military personnel of the Russian military base in Armenia, Artemy Emke, held a festive solemn service.

On the eve of the holiday, those who wished were baptized in the church of the Patriarchal Metochion of Gyumri. Also, Archpriest Artemy Emke performed the ceremony of consecrating the font of the military base, after which he addressed the officers and guests present with a sermon, explained the spiritual value of the Epiphany holiday.

The clergyman himself was the first to plunge into the baptismal water with a prayer, followed by representatives of the command of the military base. During the day, servicemen doing military service under the contract, residents of military camps of the military garrison came to the Epiphany water, plunged into it, lit candles and took water with them.

The feast of the Epiphany ended with sporting events for servicemen and their families. Traditional Russian games and sports entertainments were organized on the territory of the Russian military base.
