The Commander of the Black Sea Fleet (BSF), Admiral Igor Osipov, congratulated the servicemen and veterans of the Marine Engineering Service units on their professional holiday, thanked them for their exemplary service, and wished them good health, well-being and new successes in combat training this year.

“Currently, the engineering units of the fleet have modern technical equipment, productive construction equipment, diving stations, the latest means of searching for explosive objects and conducting engineering reconnaissance, as well as robotic special equipment, which fully allows them to perform all tasks as intended,” the admiral noted. In the course of exercises and exercises, field trips and camp gatherings with coastal units of the fleet and military units of the Southern Military District (SMD) at the combat training grounds in the Crimea, naval engineers perform a set of engineering support tasks for the creation of fortifications, engineering equipment for antiamphibious defense, installation of mines explosive barriers on land and at sea.

Also, along with the planned combat training activities, the military personnel of the engineering units of the fleet will continue to prepare for the competitions of the International Army Games, take part in army tactical shooting competitions and competitions for the title of the best crew of the mine detection service.

In addition, servicemen of engineering and sapper units go out almost daily to clear explosive objects found on the territory of the Crimean peninsula. So over the past year, sappers of a separate marine engineering regiment of the fleet have neutralized more than 13 thousand explosive items from the Great Patriotic War. Among the dangerous finds are artillery shells, mortar shells, hand grenades and cartridges of various calibers for small arms.

“Military engineers of the Black Sea Fleet worthily continue the traditions laid down by their predecessors. This is confirmed by the constant readiness to fulfill the tasks of preventing and eliminating the consequences of natural disasters and helping the civilian population,” the fleet commander emphasized.
