Snow rafting stations help to dispose of snow, which can process up to 650,000 cubic meters of snow per day.

The capital’s communal services continue to eliminate the consequences of snowfall in Moscow. The street and road network and yard areas are being cleaned continuously, snow is being transported to snow rafting stations.

According to weather forecasts, the snowfall will continue in the capital for another day. By Sunday, the height of the snow cover may increase by another 5-10 centimeters.

City services use more than 12 thousand pieces of equipment for snow removal. There are 56 stationary snow rafting points and 38 mobile units. Their daily capacity is 650,000 cubic meters of snow, the press service of the municipal economy complex reported.

It takes no more than five minutes to unload the snow. Snow masses are poured onto the grating, which retains large debris, and crushed using crushers. Next, the snow crumb is sent to the melting chamber.

Snow is melted in two ways: using a heat exchanger with burners or a tank of warm water. With any method of melting, the resulting water enters the sewer, and then to the treatment plant, where it undergoes a full cycle of mechanical and biological treatment.

To speed up the process of recycling snow, snow rafting points have introduced automatic snow accounting system. This allows you to optimize the load on each point, increase their throughput by automatically redirecting dump trucks to more free points, as well as reduce disposal costs.
