Several GAZ-3344-20 Aleut two-link tracked all-terrain vehicles of high cross-country ability GAZ-3344-20 entered service with the railway formations of the Eastern Military District stationed in the Amur Region and the Khabarovsk Territory last year.

They are already performing tasks during the reconstruction of the BAM section in the Amur Region.

The Aleut all-terrain vehicle is made according to a modular scheme: the front link is an energy module in which 5 people can be transported, including the driver, the rear link is a transformable passenger module with a capacity of 15 people, which can be easily converted into a sleeping, medical unit or command post, its payload was 2500 kg.

The Aleut is equipped with a well-proven diesel engine, an automatic transmission and simple truck-like controls.

The operating temperature ranges from minus to plus 50 degrees Celsius and is perfect for the local sharply continental climate. GAZ-3344-20 is able to overcome water obstacles. Movement afloat is carried out using a caterpillar mover. The machine is equipped with an engine and fuel pre-heater, and is equipped with an interior heating system.
