You can see the figures in Gorky Park until February 28.

In the Active Citizen project, two votings dedicated to the international festival Snow and Ice in Moscow have begun. It is currently taking place in Gorky Park. Citizens will determine which figures will receive ranks “The snowman is the symbol of 2022” and “Best Ice Sculpture”.

“This year the festival “Snow and Ice in Moscow” is being held for the first time. It may well take its rightful place in a series of metropolitan street festivals. I note that, in addition to the work of professional sculptors, on February 11, a children’s alley of snowmen will appear on the embankment. Its exhibits will be figures created based on postcards drawn by young visitors to the Journey to Christmas festival grounds. The jury selected the 20 best works with images of snowmen, which will be made into reality, and their authors will receive sweet gifts. Another novelty of the festival is an exhibition of designer snowmen. We are actively collecting applications from designers from all over the world and are ready to implement the most interesting projects on Pushkinskaya Embankment. We received sketches from Germany, Italy, Japan and many other countries,” said the Minister of the Government of Moscow, Head of the Moscow

Department of Trade and Services Alexey Nemeryuk.

In the nomination “Snowman – the symbol of 2022”, real giants compete – six-meter snow giants. Among them there are gondolier snowmen, a lady snowman, buffoon snowmen and even a snowman symbolizing the north wind. Not without a classic New Year’s theme – snowmen are presented in the form of Christmas decorations and a Christmas tree. The authors of the works came to the capital from all over the country – from Surgut, Perm, Tolyatti and other cities. Foreign guests also took part in the competition – sculptors from Finland, Uzbekistan, Italy and Belarus.

Among the contenders for the victory in the nomination “Best Ice Sculpture” are large-scale ice compositions. Some of them tell whole stories. Many authors were inspired by the plots of fairy tales. This is how the icy interpretations of “The Mistress of the Copper Mountain”, “The Snow Queen”, “The Princess and the Pea” appeared. Among the exhibits there are transparent towers, cities and Russian heroes. The masters who created the ice sculptures also represent different parts of Russia and the world.

“Our “active citizens” will have to choose from 22 snowmen and 25 ice sculptures. It is not easy to make such a choice, because each applicant is a real work of art. On the voting site you can see photos of all options, but I advise Muscovites to go to Pushkinskaya Embankment in person to appreciate the scale and beauty of the submitted works with their own eyes,” said Alexander Pishchelko, head of the New Management Technologies State Institution responsible for the development of the Active Citizen project. “.

International Festival “Snow and Ice in Moscow” takes place on Pushkinskaya Embankment in Gorky Park from January 2 to February 28. During this time, the artists will create more than 70 ice and snow sculptures. Free snow sculpture workshops are held daily for guests. Every Friday from 18:00, as well as on Saturdays, Sundays and February 23 from 11:30 to 21:00, everyone is invited to an interactive animation program.

Entrance to the festival is free. The site is open daily from 11:00 to 21:00.

Project “Active Citizen” appeared in 2014. During this time, more than five million people have joined it. Participants decide which streets, courtyards and parks need to be improved, how city clinics, libraries, multifunctional centers should work, and also choose events for festivals and holidays.
