Scouts of the Guards Tank Army of the Western Military District have begun a course in airborne training at training grounds in the Moscow and Nizhny Novgorod regions.

In total, the reconnaissance officers of the tank army of the Western Military District will make more than 3,000 parachute jumps this year. Scouts will perform training jumps from a Mi-8 helicopter on D-6 and D-10 landing parachutes from an altitude of 600-2000 meters, with weapons and equipment, aimed fire at a mock enemy in the air, with a landing on a strictly limited airfield area.

Landing with weapons, including mortars and heavy small arms, as well as additional equipment that is necessary to perform special tasks, will be practiced at the training grounds as planned. The servicemen will make parachute jumps on unfamiliar terrain, make multi-kilometer forced marches and destroy a mock enemy using knife fighting skills.

Since the beginning of this year, military personnel of the reconnaissance units of the tank formation of the Western Military District, as part of airborne training, have made about 100 parachute jumps at the training grounds.
