The Khakass State Nature Reserve will now be called the State Natural Biosphere Reserve. The order to this effect was signed by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.

The decision is due to the fact that earlier the reserve was included by UNESCO in the international network of biosphere reserves. The new status will contribute to the further development of the reserve and the conservation of its biodiversity.

The nature reserve “Khakassky” is located on the territory of the Republic of Khakassia and is part of the Altai-Sayan mountain region. This is one of the few corners of the planet where natural natural ecosystems have been preserved. Rare species of animals and birds live here, including the snow leopard, manul, musk deer, black stork, Altai snowcock, upland buzzard, whooper swan. The flora is also rich. On the territory of the reserve, virgin forests and many Red Book plants, including Siberian kandyk, rosea rhodiola, Pasco wrestler, and Cossack juniper, have been preserved.

The total area of the reserve is more than 267.5 thousand hectares.

The document will be published.
