The estate of the 19th century, located on Bolshaya Polyanka Street, will be restored. The building has the status of an object of cultural heritage, so all work will be carried out under the control of the capital Department of Cultural Heritage.

“The estate of the 19th century on Bolshaya Polyanka is an adornment of this area. When coordinating the documentation, the Moscow Department of Cultural Heritage carefully considered the draft of the proposed conservation work. The monument is waiting for a comprehensive restoration, during which it will return to its historical appearance. The specialists will pay special attention to the architectural decoration of the building, including elegant architraves, pilasters with Corinthian capitals, attics and cornices,” said the head of the Moscow Department of Cultural Heritage

The facades of the building will be renewed: the decorative elements on the facades, the crowning cornice and the plinth will be restored. Peaks will be installed over the entrances, the stone fence will be updated and the cast-iron gates will be recreated.

“The Moscow government is implementing a wide range of works to restore buildings that are iconic for the architectural appearance of the capital. So, Moscow State Expertise agreed on a project for the overhaul of a two-story house on Bolshaya Polyanka Street, built in 1870. As part of the work, both internal and external restoration of the building is planned,” said Anna Yakovleva, head of Moscow State Expertise.

On the roof of the house, the metal coating will be replaced, the drainage system, chimneys and dormer windows will be updated.

In addition, walls, ceilings, historic staircases and Monier brick vaults will be restored in the building. Specialists are partially dismantling modern partitions on the floors, recreating the doors and renovating the interior: it will be changed in accordance with the functional purpose of the premises.

At the same time, original interior elements will be preserved.

In addition, specialists will partially upgrade the water supply and sanitation, electricity and heating systems.

All old buildings in Moscow that have cultural or historical value are being restored, trying to preserve their appearance as much as possible. Over the past 11 years, restorers have saved and restored more than 1.7 thousand monuments.
