Ekaterinburg hosted the Ural Federal District Snow Rugby Championship, which was attended by 6 teams. Three teams represented the Armed Forces and power structures of the Russian Federation.
Tyumen cadets from TVVIKU fielded two teams at once. The debutants of the competition were cadets of the Ural Institute of the State Fire Service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia.
The tournament was held at the stadium of the Ural Federal University. The participants were divided into two groups – after the group stage, the teams played matches for the final places. In the decisive game, cadets of the Tyumen Higher Military Engineering Command School named after Marshal of Engineering Troops A.I. Proshlyakova were stronger than RK “RAT” with a score of 5:2. In the match for third place in the debut tournament, cadets of the Ural Institute of the State Fire Service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia lost to the URFU-1 team, and in the match for fifth place, the second team of TVVIKU defeated the second team of URFU – 11:2.
According to the results of the championship, TVVIKU cadets won the right to participate in the final of the Russian rugby championship on snow, which will be held on February 19 in the city of Zelenodolsk, Republic of Tatarstan. This result became possible thanks to the colossal joint work of the physical training department of the school in the person of the head of the department, Colonel Dmitry Yakovlev and the senior teacher, Lieutenant Colonel Andrey Kokovkin, and the FRVS trainer Igor Gavrilin.
At the last Rugby-7 Cup of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in Sevastopol, TVVIKU cadets won third place.
