The corresponding resolution was adopted by the chief state sanitary doctor.

The quarantine period for people who have been in contact with COVID-19 cases has been reduced from two weeks to seven days. The resolution on this was adopted by the chief state sanitary doctor. The operational headquarters for control and monitoring of the situation with coronavirus in Moscow gave an explanation on this matter.

The new rules come into force on January 26 and apply, among other things, to those who received an order from Rospotrebnadzor before the effective date of this decision. Thus, regardless of the date of expiration of the quarantine specified in the decree, it expires seven days from the date of issue.

If a sick leave due to contact with a COVID-19 case was open between January 15 and 21 inclusive, it will be automatically closed on January 27. If the sick leave is open after January 21, then it will be automatically closed on the seventh day.

In the future, sick leave in this case will be issued for seven days from the moment of the last contact. Sick leaves of those who have been in contact with COVID-19 patients are always closed remotely, without coming to the clinic or a doctor’s visit, and are automatically sent to employers.

The decision to reduce the quarantine period for those who have been in contact with a COVID-19 case also applies to those classes of schools and groups of kindergartens in which quarantine has been established earlier and has already lasted seven or more days.

In-person classes for such groups and classes will resume on January 26 or 27 at the discretion of the school management. At the initiative of the parents, the current quarantine may be extended to the previously prescribed 14 days.
