Instructors from the Russian military base in Tajikistan have begun training 500 military personnel of the republic’s armed forces.

“In the period from January 24 to March 27, two-month training of foreign specialists by Russian servicemen in 14 military specialties will be held at the Lyaur and Sambuli training grounds,” said Colonel Yevgeny Kovylin, commander of the military base.

Instructors will train mechanics-drivers and gunners-operators of T-72 tanks, BMP-2 infantry fighting vehicles, commanders of Grad multiple launch rocket systems, gunners of Gvozdika self-propelled howitzers, gunners and drivers of armored personnel carriers BTR-80, as well as scouts, grenade launchers and other specialists.

The training will end with the passing by the servicemen of the standards for the subjects of training and the performance of control firing from the standard weapons of combat vehicles, small arms and grenade launchers.

The training of military personnel of Tajikistan has been organized since the beginning of 2015. In total, during this time, the instructors of the unit have already trained more than 6 thousand specialists for the armed forces of the Republic.

Russian servicemen have been training specialists for the Tajik armed forces since 2015. During this time, more than 6,000 servicemen have already been trained.


The 201st military base in Tajikistan is Russia’s largest military facility outside its borders. It is located in two cities – Dushanbe and Bokhtar. It includes motorized rifle, tank, artillery, reconnaissance units, air defense, communications, radiation, chemical and biological protection units.
