On January 25, the executive committee of the Russian Olympic Committee approved the composition of the Russian team for participation in the Winter Olympics. An employee of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia in the Moscow Region, Honored Athlete Lilia Vasilyeva will represent our country at international competitions and participate in the national team in cross-country skiing.

Lilia was born into a sports family and started skiing as a teenager. After completing her studies at the Samara Law Institute of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia, she began serving in the penitentiary system. The athlete actively participated in various competitions and reached significant heights in professional sports, becoming the master of sports of Russia of international class in cross-country skiing, the champion of Russia, the absolute champion of the Universiade 2017, and the winner of the 2021 FIS Continental Cup.

At the same time, Lilia Vasilyeva adequately represents the Moscow Region at competitions and has become a repeated winner and prize-winner of the Russian Federal Penitentiary Service in cross-country skiing and winter biathlon. As part of a departmental team, she became the winner of the competitions of the CS “Dynamo” in cross-country skiing.

In 2021, after the successful participation of the athlete in the multi-day ski race Tour de Ski, the Russian Ski Racing Federation decided to include Lilia Vasilyeva in the Russian team to participate in the XXIV Winter Olympic Games, which will be held from February 4 to 20 in Beijing (China). 4,000 athletes from 95 countries will take part in the competition, 109 sets of medals will be played.
