As part of the planned exercise of the forces of the Baltic Fleet (BF), the crews of the small anti-submarine ships (MPK) “Alexin” and “Kabardino-Balkaria” of the formation of the ships of the protection of the water area of the Baltic Naval Base performed artillery firing at a surface target in the Baltic Sea. A naval shield was used as a target, imitating an enemy surface ship.

Combat exercises were performed at various distances using AK-176M and AK-630M shipborne artillery mounts.

In addition, the crews of the MPK carried out the setting of defensive minefields in specified areas using training mines, which later neutralized the Novocheboksarsk and Leonid Sobolev base minesweepers.

Sea minefields are used to prevent the passage of enemy ships along sea lanes, as well as to impede the penetration of enemy ships, submarines, torpedoes and other floating craft into harbors, ports, raids and landing sites. When constructing such barriers, contact and non-contact sea mines are used.

About 20 warships, boats and support vessels take part in the planned exercise of the Baltic Fleet, including small missile ships and boats, small anti-submarine ships, base and raid minesweepers, fleet support vessels, aircraft and helicopters of the naval aviation of the fleet.
