Its total area will be more than 82.8 thousand hectares.

Decree of January 25, 2022 No. 38

The territory of the Tigirek State Nature Reserve in the Altai Territory will be increased by 41.3 thousand hectares due to the addition of new sites. This will strengthen the protection of natural areas and help develop eco-tourism in the region. This resolution was signed by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.

The new boundaries of the Tigireksky Reserve will mainly include hard-to-reach areas of the taiga, located in the Kuryinsky and Charyshsky regions of the Altai Territory. This will allow uniting the isolated parts of the reserve, taking under special protection rare species of plants, animals and birds, as well as objects of cultural and historical heritage (Khankharinskiye caves, the remains of the fortifications of the Kolyvano-Kuznetsk defensive line of the 18th century).

The Ministry of Natural Resources was instructed to provide special protection for new sites and send documents to Rosreestr for their cadastral registration.

The Tigirek Reserve was established by a government decree in 1999 to preserve the unique nature of the Western Altai.
