In the Federal Penitentiary Service, a working meeting was held between the Director of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia, Colonel-General of the Internal Service Arkady Gostev, and the First Deputy Chairman of the All-Russian Public Organization of Veterans of the Penitentiary System, retired State Councilor of Justice of the Russian Federation, 2nd class, Salih Shamsunov.

At the event, the parties discussed topical issues of life and activities of veteran organizations of territorial bodies and educational institutions of the penal system, as well as problems and promising tasks for the development of the veterans’ movement in modern conditions.

In a conversation, Salih Shamsunov stressed that for the first time in many years, the work of veteran organizations took place in very difficult conditions of a pandemic. Despite the difficulties and restrictions associated with this, all necessary assistance was provided to veterans of the department, special attention was paid to veterans of the Great Patriotic War and home front workers.

Former employees who have served in the penitentiary system for many years, and now continue to be indifferent to the work of the service and are active in the patriotic, moral, cultural education of young employees, improving their professional skills. In 2021 alone, more than 30 thousand veterans took part in such events.

Salih Shamsunov expressed his gratitude to the leadership of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia and the territorial bodies of the penal system for their comprehensive support.

In turn, the director of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia, Arkady Gostev, focused on the urgent tasks that need to be addressed this year – the election at an extraordinary conference of the chairman, the new leadership of the management bodies and the control and audit commission of the All-Russian veteran organization of the penal system, the introduction of amendments and additions to certain provisions of the Charter of the Organization. He also thanked the veterans for their active participation in the life of the department, mentoring and mentoring work in the bodies and institutions of the penal system.
