The qualifying stage of the Safe Environment competition for the International Army Games 2022 (ArMI-2022) has started in the Radiation, Chemical and Biological (RCB) Defense Unit of the Southern Military District (SMD) stationed in the Volgograd Region.

Its participants will fight for victory both in the overall standings and in the individual vehicle race along a closed route up to 2.5 km long, in the relay race and in shooting from small arms.

The individual race includes a track equipped with sites for sampling conditionally contaminated soil, searching for radioactive sources on the ground and on vehicles, and determining toxic substances in the air.

Also, during the competition, servicemen of the Southern Military District will have to shoot from an AK-74M assault rifle in respiratory protection equipment and overcome the obstacle course on the BTR-80, more than 3.5 km long.

On the first lap, the crews must detect a source of ionizing radiation. On the second – to perform special processing using the ARS-14KM car. At the end of the third circle, leave the BTR-80 and overcome a 500 m long fire lane in full gear.

Based on the results of the qualifying stage, the best calculation of the RCB protection will be determined, which will be presented by the connection at the district stage of the “Safe Environment” competition.
