The crew of the newest small missile ship (MRK) “Cyclone” of project 22800 “Karakurt”, built for the Black Sea Fleet at the Shipbuilding Plant named after B.E. Butoma in Kerch, proceeded to the marine part of the state tests in the Black Sea.

During the event, representatives of the factory commissioning team, together with the crew and members of the state selection committee, conduct maneuvering and high-speed tests of the ship, check the operation of all units, systems and assemblies, weapons, navigation and radio equipment.

State tests of RTOs “Cyclone” will be carried out within a month. Upon completion of the marine part of the state testing program, their second part will begin – the revision of the ship. Control maintenance, inspection of mechanisms and instruments will be carried out, specialists and members of the state commission will assess the general condition of the ship, its equipment and all the technical means available on it.

Further, the ship’s regular crew will receive spare parts, tools and accessories from the manufacturer, and the final technical and paintwork will be carried out.

Earlier, during the tests, the crew of the “Cyclone” successfully tested artillery systems with firing at maximum angles of rotation and ascent at imitators of sea, coastal and air targets. The ship’s life support systems, energy and survivability, ventilation and air conditioning, indicators of speed, maneuverability and stability of the ship were also tested.


RTOs “Cyclone” of the “Karakurt” project are armed with a universal complex with Caliber missiles, an AK-176MA artillery mount, an anti-aircraft missile system “Pantsir-M”, large-caliber machine gun installations. The cruising range of the ship is 2.5 thousand miles, autonomy – 15 days.
