The qualifying stage of the Safe Environment competition among radiation, chemical and biological (RCB) protection units, which is included in the program of the International Army Games, has started in the Baltic Fleet.

More than 100 servicemen take part in the competition, more than 10 special units are involved. The competition events are held at the RCB reconnaissance ranges in the east of the Kaliningrad region.

The qualifying stage of the competition includes three stages: an individual race on vehicles along a closed route up to 2.3 thousand meters long, a relay race and a firing line.

During the competition, each crew will overcome a route equipped with sites for sampling conditionally contaminated soil, searching for radioactive sources on the ground and on equipment, and determining toxic substances in the air.

In addition, the track is equipped with obstacles: the participants will have to storm a ditch, scarp, trench, overall tunnel, a section of artificial irregularities, a blockage, a passage in a mine-explosive barrier, a limited winding passage.

Then the personnel of the NBC protection units in respiratory protection equipment will overcome the fire-assault strip equipped with a rope net, a passage through a ravine along a swinging log, a fire obstacle and a destroyed building.

At the firing line, the servicemen will fire small arms at six targets located at a distance of 100 meters.

The best RCB protection crews will perform at the naval stage of the “Safe Environment” competition.
