In Samara, servicemen of the Combined-Arms Army Directorate of the Central Military District (TsVO) took part in a memorial service for those killed by the Nazis during World War II. The event was timed to coincide with the International Holocaust Remembrance Day.

The memorial service took place in the church on the territory of the military unit, where Archpriest Dionysius Tolstykh, assistant to the commander of the military unit for work with believers, served a memorial service. Before the prayer, the servicemen listened to a lecture on the atrocities of the Nazi regime in the occupied territories.

International Holocaust Remembrance Day is celebrated in honor of the liberation on this day of the prisoners of the Polish Auschwitz concentration camp, in which, according to various estimates, from 1.5 to 4 million people died.
