As part of the exercise with the Arctic expeditionary group, which is conducted under the leadership of the commander of the Northern Fleet, Admiral Alexander Moiseev, the marines with artillery fire stopped the offensive of a mock enemy at one of the military training grounds in the Pechenga district of the Murmansk region.

Combat firing was carried out by servicemen of the howitzer self-propelled artillery battalion and artillery batteries of the Marine Corps battalions. They practiced firing from 122-mm Gvozdika self-propelled artillery howitzers and 120-mm Nona self-propelled artillery and mortar mounts, as well as Grad multiple rocket launchers at targets imitating armored vehicles and enemy manpower.

The gunnery exercise was their first live firing in the 2022 school year.

In addition to working out the task of hitting targets by fire, the marines fulfilled the standards for camouflaging equipment and making a march over rough terrain in the winter conditions of the Far North.
