In the Ulyanovsk Secondary School No. 74, a military-patriotic museum was opened and the educational institution was named after the first commander of the Airborne Forces, twice Hero of the Soviet Union, Lieutenant General Vasily Afanasyevich Glazunov.

Along with the assignment of the name of the hero to the school, a museum was created in the school, which has a rich historical fund, which is the pride of students and teachers. This is the first school museum to open out of fourteen in the schools of Ulyanovsk, bearing the names of the commanders of the Airborne Forces.

The exposition hall presents exhibits dedicated not only to the Ulyanovsk Airborne Guards unit, but also to the Great Patriotic War, local wars and military conflicts of recent years. Documents, personal belongings of veterans and various items are collected in this memorial room. In addition, biographies of Ulyanovsk military personnel awarded the title of Hero of Russia are also presented here.

“In December 2020, at the final video conference with the chairmen of the Councils of Veterans of formations, military units and institutions of the Airborne Forces, the issue of mentoring was considered. In the context of this, it was proposed to pay special attention to secondary general education schools (SOSH). To take patronage over them in order to raise patriotic activity among the population of the garrisons, especially young people,” said the chairman of the Presidium of the All-Russian public organization “Council of Veterans of the Russian Airborne Forces”, retired Major General Vladimir Ananievich Danilchenko, “And in March 2021, the Presidium instructed the chairman of the council of Major General Vadim Orlov of the Ulyanovsk Guards Airborne Assault Unit of the Guards to organize work on naming the secondary educational institutions of the city of Ulyanovsk after the commanders of the Airborne Forces with the opening of museums and museum formations about the Airborne Forces in them, ”the chairman of the Presidium of the Council of Veterans of the Airborne Forces of Russia emphasized.

The systematic work of the Council of Veterans of the Airborne Forces in this direction continues. Until May 9, it is planned to open 13 more similar museums in the region with the assignment of the names of the commanders of the Airborne Forces to them. Patronage over them will be taken by the servicemen of the units of the Ulyanovsk Separate Guards Airborne Assault Formation.
