Yunarmiya members of the city of Belovo, Kemerovo Region, took part in the opening ceremony of a memorial plaque to Sergei Vladimirovich Marenkov, who died in the line of military duty in the Chechen People’s Republic. The memorial plaque was located on the building of the school where Sergei studied.

The event was attended by: the head and representatives of the administration of the Belovsky municipal district of the district, the senior assistant of the Belovsky military commissariat Boris Popovich, the family and relatives of the serviceman, as well as teachers and students of the Bachatskaya OSHI MKOU, the youth members of the Scout PVCC.

During the rally, the participants of the event said many sincere kind words about the former pupil of the school and at the end of the event they laid flowers at the memorial plaque with the name of Sergei Marenkov, and also honored his memory with a minute of silence.

Marenkov Sergei Vladimirovich in 1997 was called up for military service in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. In 2002, he continued his contract service as a participant in hostilities in the North Caucasus. On January 21, 2003, Sergei Vladimirovich Marenkov died while performing military and official duty in the Chechen People’s Republic and was awarded the Order of Courage posthumously.
