Eight sections of the chord have already been opened, the builders have to complete work on two more.

The construction of the section of the North-Eastern Expressway (SVKh) from Lukhmanovskaya Street to the border with the Moscow Region is more than half completed, said the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Urban Planning Policy and Construction Andrey Bochkarev.

“There is a roadbed and communications, the construction of pedestrian crossings,” he said.

The North-Eastern Chord will connect the south-east and north of the city, providing passage between the M11 Neva highway and the M12 Moscow-Nizhny Novgorod-Kazan expressway under construction.

Eight sections have already been opened for drivers, with two more to be completed. In January, the builders completed the concreting of the supports of the last overpass of the North-Eastern Expressway within the Moscow Ring Road. The overpass, 2.4 kilometers long, will provide traffic in three lanes in each direction from Yaroslavskoye to Dmitrovskoye Highway. The readiness of this section is 85 percent, Andrey Bochkarev added.

With the opening of all sections of the chorus, the traffic load on outbound highways, the city center, the Moscow Ring Road and the Third Ring Road in the eastern sector of the capital will decrease. In addition, the chorda will provide transport services for 10 reorganized industrial zones in the east and southeast of Moscow.
