In the Republic of Buryatia there is a village with the Mongolian name Tarbagatai. Some of its inhabitants are Old Believers, their traditions and customs are included in the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage List. The village was founded by the Old Believers, who were expelled from the territory of the Commonwealth after its split in the 18th century. The first mention of the village of Izborsk in the Pskov region dates back to 862.
