The 68-kilometer route will connect the largest outbound highways – the North-Western Chord, Dmitrovskoye, Altufevskoye, Yaroslavskoye and Shchelkovskoye highways, the Entuziastov highway, Ryazansky and Volgogradsky prospects, the Southern Rokada, Kashirskoye and Varshavskoye highways.

The North-Eastern and South-Eastern chords will be combined into a new city highway. “With a seamless connection, these highways organically create a new transport artery – a traffic-free high-speed diameter of Moscow from south to north, from the Simferopol highway to the toll highway to St. Petersburg. And with a branch to Nekrasovka, ”wrote Sergei Sobyanin on my blog.

The Mayor of Moscow offered to choose a name for the new highway for residents in the Active Citizen project.

“I propose to “Active Citizen” vote on the name of the new highway. It’s time to give her a clear and convenient name,” he said.

The construction of the two largest off-street highways – the North-Eastern and South-Eastern chords – is at the final stage. It is expected that the combined route will be completely ready in 2023.

In terms of scale and significance, the high-speed diameter will be comparable to the Moscow Ring Road. The 68-kilometer route will connect the largest outbound highways – the North-Western Chord, Dmitrovskoye, Altufevskoye, Yaroslavskoye, Schelkovskoye highways, Entuziastov highways, Ryazansky and Volgogradsky prospects, the Southern Rokada, Kashirskoye and Varshavskoye highways.

In the vicinity of the Novokhokhlovskaya station, it will be possible to leave from it to the Third Transport Ring. In the north, the federal highway M11 Moscow – St. Petersburg will continue the diameter, in the east in the future – the highway M12 Moscow – Kazan, and in the south – the federal highway M2 “Crimea” and the new road Solntsevo – Butovo – Warsaw highway.

“For millions of motorists, the creation of the Moscow High-Speed Diameter will mean a new transport reality — faster and more comfortable trips from one part of the city to another. It will be possible to drive through the whole city, bypassing the center, without a single traffic light in 40 minutes,” Sergei Sobyanin stressed.

Depending on the distance and time of day, the duration of the journey for drivers around the city will be reduced from 10 to 50 minutes, and the road to Sheremetyevo and Domodedovo airports will become 20–25 minutes faster. At the same time, there will be no transit of freight transport along the diameter.
