Library No. 241 will host a meeting dedicated to Aleksey Tolstoy’s novel “The Hyperboloid of Engineer Garin”.

The fantasy novel “The Hyperboloid of Engineer Garin” was written in 1927. This is an incredible story of a talented scientist who dreams of gaining power over the whole world with the help of the thermal miracle beam he created. While working on the novel, the writer studied the basics of molecular physics. He divided his literary work into three parts, which he called adventurous, heroic and utopian. In Soviet adventure literature, Aleksey Tolstoy’s novel “The Hyperboloid of Engineer Garin” is considered one of the best. Its main characters had real prototypes, with whom amazing stories also happened in life, worthy of a separate work.

The guests will learn about the history of writing the novel, that Garin’s prototype was the talented engineer Apollon Tsimlyansky, who actually existed. Loud readings of the chapters of the novel will take place and an exhibition of one book will be presented.
