Modernization will extend the service life of the collector for several decades.

In the Central Administrative District, work has begun on the modernization of the collector and control center of the “Academician Sakharov”. The complex provides electricity, communication services, heat and water to more than 48,000 residents of the Krasnoselsky district, one of the oldest districts of the capital with a dense transport interchange. The modernization will extend the service life of the collector by several decades, which guarantees a reliable supply of consumers with the necessary energy resources.

“In the course of modernization, work will be carried out to restore the bearing capacity of building structures in the collector and control room of Akademika Sakharova. Specialists of Moskollektor JSC will restore the water tightness and waterproofing of the joints of floor slabs and wall panels, carry out sealing of cable and pipe entries and work to strengthen the building structures of the collector, if necessary, restore the destroyed layer of concrete,” said the head of the capital

Department of housing and communal services Vyacheslav Torsunov.

According to him, the existing cable metal structures will be replaced with new ones made using the modern method of thermal diffusion galvanizing. This will greatly enhance the protection against corrosion and increase the service life.

The modernization will also affect pumping stations, ventilation equipment, work and emergency lighting. To ensure timely response to emergency situations, specialists will replace fire alarm systems, warning and evacuation control systems, temperature and flood control sensors, as well as fiber-optic communication in the collector and control room.

The underground location of the complex allows for reconstruction without excavation, without violating the infrastructure of the city and without causing discomfort to the citizens.

Collector “Academician Sakharov” was put into operation in 1955, its total length is more than 2350 running meters.
