Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko

Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko once again drew attention to the need for special control by Rospotrebnadzor, the Federal Air Transport Agency, the Ministry of Sports and the Russian Olympic Committee on the organization of flights to China for Russian athletes participating in the Beijing Olympics.

The final stage of the training camp for the 2022 Winter Olympics will be held by national teams in 8 Russian cities, as well as abroad. In accordance with this, a phased schedule for the flights of Russian athletes to Beijing was developed.

“Until February 10, more than 20 flights to Beijing for Russian athletes are scheduled. Part of the Russian team has already arrived at the venue of the competition, other athletes are just completing training and will arrive in the Olympic capital in time for the start of competitions in their sports. Team flight logistics must be organized in such a way that the risks of the spread of the COVID-19 virus are reduced to zero. At all airports, epidemiological control measures must be observed – teams are provided with specially processed vehicles for arrival at the airport, screening is carried out in specially prepared halls, separately from the passenger flow. There should also be a complete disinfection of vehicles that deliver teams directly to the board. I draw your attention to the need for special control over the organization of the delivery of athletes by Rospotrebnadzor, the Federal Air Transport Agency, the Ministry of Sports and the Russian Olympic Committee. Based on the results, the Government will analyze the performance of all responsible persons and services,” said Dmitry Chernyshenko.

The Vice Premier noted that a closed system operates at the Beijing Olympic Winter Games, all of its provisions are strictly regulated. Participants of the Games undergo daily health monitoring and testing, they can move between sports facilities and places of residence only on vehicles specially designated for the Games. Intersection with the population of Beijing or someone outside the contour of the competition is excluded.

Dmitry Chernyshenko also reminded that medical offices will be deployed in the Olympic village, where FMBA specialists will control and monitor the health of our athletes.

Each delegation includes covid officers. In the Russian team, these are specialists from the FMBA and the Russian Olympic Committee, who are responsible for interaction on compliance with anti-epidemic measures and monitoring the epidemiological situation in the national team as a whole.
