The newlyweds showed great interest in visiting locations.
In 2021, the largest number of marriages in four years was concluded in the capital. This was reported Anastasia Rakova, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Social Development.
“In Moscow, about 87,000 marriages were registered in 2021, this is the highest figure since 2018. Their number increased by 32 percent compared to 2020 and by five percent compared to 2019. Also in 2021, we observed a great interest among newlyweds in outdoor marriage registration ceremonies. The first venues for their holding were opened in 2019 as part of a project by the Mayor of Moscow. For three years, the number of marriages concluded at these venues in the capital has steadily increased by about 20 percent. In 2021, over 10 thousand couples got married there, which is more than 11 percent of the total number of marriages. Therefore, in 2022, we opened 50 percent more slots for applying for unusual locations than in 2021,” she said.
The most popular place last year for field registration became the OKO tower of the Moscow City business center. 1092 couples signed there. 699 couples got married in the Safisa House of Celebrations, and 671 couples got married in the Royal Mansion. Also, the newlyweds often chose the Spiridonov mansion and the temple of the Matrona of Moscow (539 and 468 pairs, respectively).
In addition, in 2021, relationships were often registered at the Wedding Palace No. 1, where they set a record over the past 35 years – 7189 marriages. In August, more than 30 couples signed there every day. The palace worked seven days a week. The second most popular is the Shipilovsky Civil Registry Office, which has celebrated five years since its opening. He was chosen by 3843 couples. A separate building was built for marriage registrations. Also popular were the Wedding Palace No. 3 (3557 couples) and the Wedding Palace No. 4 (3,000 couples), which opened in June after a major overhaul. Now in wedding palaces No. 1 and No. 4, during solemn ceremonies, live music performed by a string trio plays free of charge. Newlyweds can order a certain composition.
Most often last year, relationships were recorded from 12:00 to 14:00. The most popular days are Friday and Saturday (over 60 percent of the total).
Most marriages were between 25-year-old newlyweds. Men were more likely to marry at the age of 27 (about five thousand). The most popular age period for them is between 25 and 32 years. Most often, girls were married at the age of 25-26 (about five thousand). The most popular marriage period for brides is between 23 and 30 years of age. The oldest groom last year was 95 years old, his bride – 79. And the oldest newlywed was a 91-year-old woman, she married the groom for 63 years. More than half of the newlyweds married for the first time.
In 2021, newlyweds have the opportunity to register their relationship at the My Documents public service centers in a non-ceremonial atmosphere. This was done by over eight thousand couples (about nine percent of the total number of marriages).
Future newlyweds can apply online on the portal of public services or mos.ru, as well as in person at wedding palaces, registry offices, My Documents offices. The state duty is 350 rubles, when applying online – 245 rubles.
