Early this morning, the rescuers of the Southern RSSO EMERCOM of Russia boarded a Ka-32 helicopter to the area of ​​Mount Kamenny Pillar to search for and rescue a snowboarder from the city of Omsk. As a result of a helicopter search, the tourist was found in the upper reaches of the Glubokaya River, on the southern slope. The rescuer using the onboard winch went down to the snowboarder. In a rescue scarf, the employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations lifted the tourist on board the aircraft, and the detachment’s medic examined the victim and found that the man had severe hypothermia, fortunately, there were no more serious injuries. The tourist was given hot tea to drink and taken to the base.

According to the injured snowboarder, when a heavy snowfall began, he could not resist and drove off the track, but due to poor visibility, he abruptly lost his landmark, finding himself in several streams – tributaries of the Glubokaya River. Getting out of them, he lost a lot of time, and most importantly – strength. “Seeing that it was starting to get dark, I decided to choose the most open place. Thank you so much for saving us!”, says the rescued tourist.

Information about the incident was received by the Ministry of Emergency Situations yesterday, February 06 at 15:25, from an employee of the Rosa Khutor State Ski Complex. The employee who called said that a snowboarder had gone missing, having left the territory of the southern slope of the ski complex. Need help with a search. During search and rescue operations yesterday at about 18:00, voice contact was established with the victim and his location was determined. It was not possible to descend into the couloir where the snowboarder was located due to the high avalanche danger at the site of search and rescue operations. Maintaining voice contact was carried out during the night. During daylight hours, the snowboarder was evacuated using a Ka-32 helicopter of the Russian Emergencies Ministry.
