All decking works will be carried out mainly by hand, without the use of heavy machinery, in order to minimize the impact on the natural and historical landscape.

In 2022, it is planned to replace 25 bridge crossings that have fallen into disrepair in the Bitsevsky Forest natural and historical park. The work will be carried out as part of measures to restore and preserve the park.

The Bitsevsky forest is rich in water bodies – rivers, streams and ponds, and the relief in some places has large elevation changes. Therefore, more than 30 bridges have been built on the territory of the park, which connect the districts of Yasenevo, Konkovo, Zyuzino, Cheryomushki, Northern Butovo, Chertanovo Northern, Central and Southern. All bridge structures were erected at different times. According to the results of examinations of specialists, 25 of them have become unusable and require replacement.

“All these structures are in an unsatisfactory condition. Among the main defects, one can single out natural depreciation wear due to prolonged operation: supporting supports are in disrepair, some of the bridges have rotting and subsidence of wooden load-bearing elements, as well as a violation of their geometry,” said the deputy head

Department of capital repairs of the city of Moscow Sergey Melnikov.

Bridge structures are planned to be replaced on the Vodyanka, Chertanovka, Dubininskaya and Gorodnya rivers. The specialists took into account the peculiarities of the territory and decided to make eco-flooring here – metal structures on piles, sheathed with a special terrace board. All work on the decking will be carried out mainly by hand, without the use of heavy equipment, in order to minimize the impact on the natural and historical landscape.

For each of the 25 floorings, depending on the location, a different type of screw piles was selected. Only a small drilling rig will be used to screw in some of them. All structures are planned to be equipped with railings 1.2 meters high.

“Now on the territory of the Bitsevsky Forest, all equipped bridge structures that are planned to be replaced are of a different type and appearance. In accordance with the project, it is proposed to arrange eco-flooring in a single stylistic solution. The supports will resemble a tree trunk with branches extending from it or simply intersecting with each other, and in the decoration of the pedestrian part it is planned to use a special decking board with a texture and color that matches the tree bark as much as possible. All this will give the designs elegance, unusualness and uniqueness. In addition, they will harmoniously fit into the natural landscape,” Sergey Melnikov noted.

Some bridges are located deep in ravines. In order to move from one bank of a river or stream to another, visitors to the park have to overcome steep descents down stairs and then climb up. In order to reduce or eliminate completely uncomfortable descents and ascents, it is planned to raise the eco-flooring. The height of each of them will be individual. Thus, the path will become shorter and easier. At particularly interesting and viewpoints, viewing platforms are equipped on the decks.
