A bronze plaque with a bas-relief of the hero was placed on the house where he lived for 44 years.

The solemn opening of the memorial plaque to Colonel Hero of the Soviet Union Yevgeny Pepelyaev took place in the capital. It is located at the house at the address: Green Avenue, house 66, building 1. Evgeny Pepelyaev lived here from 1969 to 2013.

The memorial plaque with a bas-relief of the hero was made of bronze by the group of authors – sculptor I.A. Burganov and architect O.A. Ryzhkova.

“The solemn opening of memorial plaques to the heroes of the Soviet Union is an important metropolitan tradition, which the city always tries to coincide with the Defender of the Fatherland Day. The first memorial plaque that opened this year is dedicated to the memory of the outstanding pilot Evgeny Georgievich Pepelyaev. He took part in the battles on the Belarusian and Far Eastern fronts, was one of the first to master jet aircraft, worked for a long time at the military aviation research institute,” said the head of the city’s Department of Cultural Heritage

Alexey Emelyanov.

The initiator of the installation of the memorial plaque was the interregional public organization “Club of Heroes of the Soviet Union, Heroes of the Russian Federation and full holders of the Order of Glory of the city of Moscow and the Moscow Region.”
