The work done in the international arena by the EMERCOM of Russia is inseparably connected with the activities of our colleagues from the Russian Foreign Ministry both in the Russian Federation and in diplomatic missions abroad.

Vladimir Solovyov, Director of the Department of International Activities of the Russian Emergencies Ministry, congratulated the diplomatic staff on their professional holiday, thanking colleagues for the work being done for the benefit of our country.

“Often, the fulfillment of your professional duty is associated with work in emergency situations, where you work shoulder to shoulder with employees of the Russian Emergencies Ministry. Thanks to the assistance of diplomatic workers, operations are being carried out to evacuate Russian citizens who find themselves in a difficult life situation outside our Motherland. The population of foreign states affected by disasters, crises and catastrophes is provided with the necessary humanitarian assistance,” V. Solovyov noted.

The geography of the international activities of the Russian rescue department covers about 140 states.

The most demanded forms of emergency humanitarian response are the delivery of humanitarian cargo, air ambulance evacuation and evacuation of Russian citizens in case of a threat to their lives, rescue, search and demining of territories from explosive objects, as well as extinguishing natural fires.

Our rescuers are among the first to come to the aid of the people of countries in need of help. In total, in 31 years, when responding to emergencies abroad, the units of the Russian Emergencies Ministry conducted about 520 humanitarian operations.

In 2021 alone, 23 humanitarian operations were carried out. Thus, last year humanitarian aid was provided to the population of Afghanistan, Vietnam, India, Kyrgyzstan, Cuba, Laos, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Sri Lanka and South Africa.

Among the major humanitarian operations, one can note the work of the group of the Russian Emergencies Ministry in Nagorno-Karabakh, including over 1,580 tons of humanitarian cargo delivered to the region.

One of the priorities was to provide assistance to the population of Donetsk and Luhansk. In 2021, more than 720 tons of humanitarian cargo were delivered.

Also last year, 217 Russian citizens were evacuated to Russia from the Philippines, Afghanistan and Palestine.

At the same time, it is important to understand that hundreds of saved human lives and assistance to tens of thousands of people are behind the dry statistics.
