During the day, 24,364 patients recovered.

The operational headquarters for control and monitoring of the situation with coronavirus in Moscow reports that 1,374 people were hospitalized in the city per day. Taking into account the dominance of the omicron strain and the characteristics of the course of the disease in this variant of the virus, the number of hospitalizations is the most objective indicator to assess the situation. 629 patients are connected to artificial lung ventilation devices.

Over the past 24 hours, Moscow doctors have cured another 24,364 patients. During the entire period of the pandemic, 2,118,897 people have recovered. During the day, 84 patients with a confirmed diagnosis of pneumonia and a positive test result for coronavirus died.

During the day, 22,747 new cases of COVID-19 were recorded in the city. As explained in the operational headquarters for control and monitoring of the situation with coronavirus in Moscow, the increase in the incidence is mainly associated with the introduction of changes in the procedure for registering new cases of COVID-19 at the federal level. The results of rapid tests carried out in polyclinics (in departments for the reception of citizens with symptoms of acute respiratory viral infections) are now accepted for daily reporting of COVID-19 cases, along with the results of PCR diagnostics, without the need to wait for their confirmation by PCR testing. If the previous methodology for detecting new cases were preserved, a significant decrease in the incidence would be observed today.

For the patients themselves, the treatment algorithm does not change. As before, observation and treatment for COVID-19 begins for patients with symptoms of SARS after receiving a positive rapid test result.

In addition, as the operational headquarters reported earlier, the middle of the week is traditionally accompanied by an increase in the number of new cases of COVID-19. Monday and Tuesday are often the peak days for residents to contact medical organizations after the weekend. And the results of tests after processing samples taken on Monday and Tuesday arrive by the middle of the week, by which time the number of new cases reaches its peak values. The same situation was observed, for example, last week.

The Operational Headquarters reminds: the best prevention of coronavirus infection is vaccination. Vaccination against COVID-19can be done by appointment at one of the vaccination centers based on polyclinics, as well as without an appointment at the points of work of mobile teams in popular public places.
