Sergei Akhremenko, commander of the 6th detachment of the FPS from the Altai Territory, is working at the Winter Olympics in Beijing. This is not the first Olympic Games for the judge of the international category, the master of alpine skiing – before that there were games in Sochi, the Paralympics, the World Military Games, the Olympic Games in Pyeongchang. At the Olympics taking place these days, Sergey leads a rapid response team on downhill skiing.

“I have 20 people under my supervision. They are on duty at posts along the entire track, at the start and finish. The Rapid Response Team deals with emergency problem solving. This is the hardest job on the slope. For example, an athlete went off the track. I have to assess the situation, solve the problem, provide assistance so that everything gets back on track as quickly as possible. Of course, many years of service in the Russian Emergencies Ministry taught me to quickly make the right decisions, to act in extreme circumstances.”

Sergei was born and raised in Belokurikha, famous for its ski slopes and skiers. Participated and won many competitions. Sergey Akhremenko has been serving in the fire department since 1996, over the years he has been repeatedly encouraged by the leadership of the detachment and the head office for excellent service and professional achievements.

“I am very glad that I had such an honor, and I am grateful to the leadership for the support that they give me,” Sergey shared.
