In addition, more than 26,000 laboratory and about 17,000 diagnostic tests have been performed.

More than 52 thousand outpatient appointments were made by doctors of the Center for Outpatient Cancer Care of the City Clinical Hospital named after S.P. Botkin since the start of work in the new building. In addition, more than 26,000 laboratory and about 17,000 diagnostic tests were performed in four months, about 8,000 courses of antitumor drug treatment were carried out, more than 2,500 oncological consultations were organized.

The Center for Outpatient Cancer Care is a structural subdivision of the Botkin Hospital. Here they provide a wide variety of oncological care to patients of the Western Administrative District (ZAO) – from diagnosis to specialized treatment and further observation.

The center began work in a new building on September 27, 2021. It is located in the 28th building, opened after a major overhaul, where four oncological departments of ZAO polyclinics moved.

In the new building, every detail is thought out and taken into account so that the treatment of patients is not only effective, but also comfortable. Chemotherapy rooms are equipped with multifunctional chairs, each of which is equipped with a control panel and a tablet. The patient can independently choose a convenient location for himself and be distracted by reading or watching movies. There are also spaces for waiting and resting patients and their attendants.

Patients are admitted to the Center for Outpatient Cancer Care in the case of a suspected oncological disease. Additional tests and studies are scheduled for consultations, which are carried out on the basis of the center or directly at the Botkin Hospital. If necessary, doctors conduct an oncological consultation and determine further treatment tactics.

Thanks to modern equipment installed in the center, many types of diagnostic examinations are available on the day of treatment. In particular, already during the initial examination, the oncomammologist can immediately perform a biopsy of the mammary gland.

The center has created a comfortable environment for patients and their companions, including those with limited mobility. The work of the office of psychological unloading was organized, and cozy recreation areas were designed.

Outpatient Cancer Care Center at Botkin Hospital receives first patients

Moscow is the country’s leader in the use of modern technologies and methods of cancer treatment. In many respects, this was achieved thanks to the introduction in 2019 of a new standard for oncological care. Within the framework of this standard, six multidisciplinary oncological centers have been organized on the basis of the largest hospitals, which include a round-the-clock hospital, a diagnostic complex and an outpatient oncological care center.

Each oncology center is assigned certain administrative districts of the capital. Cancer centers provide assistance at all stages of treatment, which include diagnostics, surgical treatment, drug therapy, dispensary observation. This allows you to reduce the time of diagnosis, improve its accuracy and start treatment faster.
