The Makariev Prize is one of the most prestigious domestic scientific awards. Works for participation are accepted until April 1, 2022.

The Moscow government has allocated 25.58 million rubles to organize a competition for awards in memory of Metropolitan Makariy (Bulgakov) of Moscow and Kolomna in 2022. The corresponding resolution was signed Sergei Sobyanin.

The Makariev Prizes are one of the most prestigious domestic scientific awards. They were awarded in 1884-1917, after an 80-year break they began to be awarded again in 1997. The founders of the award are the Russian Orthodox Church, the Government of Moscow and the Russian Academy of Sciences.

The competition of scientific papers for the Makarievsky Prizes is held annually, alternating: one year – in the humanities, the other – in the natural sciences.

In 2022, the competition is dedicated to the natural sciences. Authors of scientific papers (monographs, reprints of articles) published in 2019–2022, as well as unpublished papers in three categories, such as:

– methods of natural and exact sciences in the study of the history of the Church, Christian antiquities and the cultural heritage of Russia and the Slavic countries, innovative technologies that ensure the high quality of heritage preservation;

— scientific research in the field of natural and exact sciences of high social and civil importance;

— scientific research in the field of rational nature management, ecology and environmental protection.

Works for participation in the competition are accepted until April 1, 2022.
