Ceramic tiles on walls and stairs will be replaced with granite cladding.

Nine underground pedestrian crossings are waiting for major repairs. The work will be completed this year, said the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Housing and Utilities and Improvement Petr Biryukov.

“This year we will continue the overhaul of city underground passages, work is planned in nine such structures. The need for measures is caused by the partial destruction and wear of the steps of the stairs and the floor covering, the unsatisfactory state of engineering communications,” the deputy mayor said.

Specialists will carry out a whole range of works that will completely update each of the crossings, make it more comfortable and safe. Pyotr Biryukov said that the ceramic tiles on the walls and stairs would be replaced with granite cladding, new flooring, steps and landings of staircases would be made.

“It is planned to repair the systems of electrical equipment, drainage, heating and ventilation, we will put the office premises in order,” the deputy mayor added.

During the repair, the crossings will not be completely closed. Work will be carried out in parts, leaving passages.

This year it is planned improve the territoryadjacent to 38 transport facilities.
