During the negotiations, opportunities were considered for the implementation of potential energy projects, in particular, for the participation of Russian companies in the development of the renewable energy industry in Senegal. They also discussed the prospects for using the latest Russian technologies for the development of lighting infrastructure and urban development programs in Senegal. “We consider Senegal as one of the most promising partners on the African continent. Bilateral trade reached $1 billion last year. Russia has rich experience in participating in the development of the energy sector in African countries. There are successful examples of completed projects, and we are also developing areas of clean nuclear and hydrogen energy. At present, there are all prerequisites for expanding and deepening bilateral cooperation,” Alexander Novak emphasized.

Senegal is ready to help Russian investors, said Mansour Fay. “Senegal keeps its doors open for entrepreneurs and investors from Russia. This topic is under the control of the country’s leadership,” he added.

During the meeting, the prospects for the creation of the Russian-Senegalese commission on trade and economic cooperation were also discussed. In conclusion, the Deputy Prime Minister invited the Republic of Senegal, represented by Mansour Faye, to take part in the 25th World Energy Congress, scheduled to be held on October 24-27, 2022 in St. Petersburg.
