Student film works will now also be able to apply for a grant from the Mayor of Moscow.

The city will support students of Moscow film schools. The decisions that are planned to be implemented in the near future were made following the meeting of Sergei Sobyanin with the capital’s filmmakers on August 27, 2021.

Now student film works about the city will also be able to apply for a grant from the Mayor of Moscow. Applications are accepted by Moskino until March 31, 2022.

A special center for showing student films will be opened on the basis of the Salyut cinema. It is planned to hold film screenings every month at the request of film schools.

For talented students of private Moscow film schools, 10 special grants will be allocated to pay for tuition in the 2022/2023 academic year. 10 students of five educational institutions will be able to receive them: the Moscow Film School, the Arka Higher Film School, the Industry Film and Television School, the Higher Courses for Scriptwriters and Directors named after G.N. Danelia, Moscow School of New Cinema.

Applications for financial assistance to two candidates will be sent to schools based on the results of test tasks and interviews at Moskino, where a list of candidates will be formed.

“When we talk about Moscow, for example, in the 1960s, it is impossible not to refer to Georgy Danelia’s masterpiece “I’m walking around Moscow”. But we must remember that the enthusiasm and energy of that era were embodied by young people then. Nobody prevents us from doing this today. An order was signed by the Department of Culture of the city of Moscow to expand the experiment of financial support for filmmakers who create the image of Moscow to encourage students. This will allow young people studying at Moscow film schools this year to receive grants from the Mayor of Moscow, which are available for professionals,” he stressed.

Alexander Kibovsky, Minister of the Government of Moscow, Head of the Moscow Department of Culture.

Moskino is an institution within the structure of the Moscow Department of Culture that manages a network of 13 city cinemas. They annually organize film screenings for memorable dates, hold auteur film festivals, premiere screenings of new films and meetings with famous directors. The cinematheque “Moskino” contains about nine thousand film copies of the classics of Soviet cinema.
