There are more than 2,000 students in student teams.

February 17 is the Day of Russian student teams (RSO). Their history goes back over 60 years. During this time, over 19 million people went through the school of student teams.

Today in Moscow there are 84 student teams, which unite 2,200 students from 60 metropolitan universities. Among them are 25 construction teams, 28 pedagogical teams, 14 service teams, four agricultural teams, three guide teams, one medical team and nine specialized teams.

During the year, students additionally receive professional skills in selected areas, are trained by experts and practice. To join the student brigade, students of the capital’s universities just need to go to the organization’s website and submit your application indicating the area of interest.

“Student brigades of Moscow are one of the leading youth organizations in the city. We continue the long-term traditions of our predecessors – the life of the guys is filled with learning and gaining practical skills, as well as bright sports and creative events. For many, work in the student brigade turns out to be a good start in professional development,” said Natalia Belokrylova, head of the Moscow regional branch of the RSO.

Students take an active part in the life of the city, youth events and projects of various kinds – environmental, volunteer, creative and charitable.

The capital, in turn, creates conditions for the development of the younger generation, career self-determination and professional growth. With the support of the Committee of Public Relations and Youth Policy of the city, dozens of major events are held a year, such as a rally of student groups in Moscow, the forum “Snow Troopers of the North Ossetia”, and the closing ceremony of the working semester.

Student groups also receive grant support from the Mayor of Moscow. So in 2021, the project of the Russian Student Groups Foundation “Resource Center for the Formation and Support of the Activities of Student Groups of the City of Moscow” was among the winners. Within the framework of the project, over 1,500 students will undergo training and practice, five headquarters and over a hundred new labor detachments will be created. This will help students in obtaining the first work experience to get acquainted with the profession and further employment. The grant will be implemented in 2022.

One of the most popular areas in the work of student teams is construction. Students of construction teams take part in construction work of city and federal significance. Young people try their hand at various professions, including the professions of carpenter, welder, assembler, roofer or carpenter.

In 2021, members of the Moscow regional branch became winners and prize-winners of all-Russian and interregional labor projects, such as the All-Russian student construction site Peaceful Atom – MBIR, the Interregional student construction site Northern Lights, and the All-Russian Children’s Center Orlyonok. They received three awards at the international level, 12 – at the All-Russian level, 13 – at the interregional level.

A large number of “fighters” of pedagogical student teams work in the camps of the Crimean Peninsula and the Krasnodar Territory. Every year, activists go to the all-Russian children’s centers “Eaglet”, “Smena”, “Ocean”, to the international “Artek”. Students work in children’s health camps in Moscow and the Moscow region.

Among the specialized student groups, the most developed is the archaeological direction. In the summer, the guys go on regional expeditions, carry out excavations and contribute to the development of science. Out of season, students participate in specialized events, learn from professional archaeologists and help them.

Members of the groups of conductors work as conductors of passenger cars on the railway. They make up more than 25 percent of the temporary staff recruited during the summer. The guys not only get work experience, but also travel around the country, find new friends.

Students who have joined the agricultural teams go to the fields during sowing and harvesting, work at livestock complexes as veterinarians and livestock specialists.

For the past six years, student detachments of Moscow have been participating in the All-Russian patriotic action “Snow landing of the North Ossetia”, the purpose of which is volunteer assistance in remote areas. In 2022, 13 detachments from Moscow with a total number of more than 250 people took part in the action, including representatives of 27 educational organizations of the city.

In 2021, the detachments worked in Moscow, as well as in the Ivanovo, Tula, Smolensk and Moscow regions. The guys visited eight districts of the Central Federal District, provided assistance in more than 30 settlements, and in Moscow they took an active part in the campaigns #WeTogether, Give Food and others.
